ADU Size Guide

Four footprints. Endless ways to live.

Every property, family, and use case is different.
These size ranges help you visualize what an ADU can become and how it might fit into your landscape.
Each model—Prairie, Essential, or Meridian—can be adapted within these footprints to match your site and your goals.

About Square Footage

Square footage is flexible within each category and can shift based on layout, program, and site constraints.
All final designs are tailored to your property and reviewed through a full design, engineering, and permitting process.

Possibilities

Designed to adapt. Built to belong.

Every property presents unique opportunities.
Our ADU collections—Prairie, Essential, and Meridian—can be expanded or refined to meet the specific needs of your site, your program, and your long-term goals.

These conceptual options help you understand what’s possible:

Loft + Vertical Space

Add a sleeping loft, mezzanine, or partial second level for extra storage or elevated living.
A simple way to create volume and light without expanding the footprint.

Daylight or Lower-Level Spaces

For sloped or uneven lots, a walkout lower level can add flexible space for work, storage, or a studio.
An efficient way to gain square footage while adapting to the terrain.

Garage-Under Configurations

Place your ADU above a one- or two-car garage or workshop.
Ideal for urban or hillside sites where space is limited and functionality matters.

Outdoor Integration

Covered entries, generous overhangs, decks, patios, and planter extensions can all be incorporated to connect your ADU to the landscape and enhance privacy, comfort, and everyday use.

Program Flexibility

Layouts can be tailored for:
• Guest living
• Long-term rental
• Multigenerational housing
• Full-time living
• Professional workspaces
• Creative or wellness uses

Your ADU becomes what you need it to be, not what a template dictates.

Next Step

Let’s talk about your property.

Design and construction begin with a clear understanding of your site, utilities, goals, and budget.
Once you’ve explored the collections, the best next step is a short design conversation.

We’ll review:
• Your property and zoning constraints
• Desired size and aesthetic
• Program and use cases
• Timeline and investment range
• Any opportunities or challenges unique to your lot

From there, we prepare a tailored concept, estimated cost range, and a path toward design, engineering, and permitting.
